Introduction To Oxygen Concentrators

Jun 11, 2026 Leave a message

Oxygen concentrators, also known as home molecular sieve oxygen concentrators or portable oxygen concentrators, are based on the principle of pressure swing adsorption (PSA). Using air as the raw material, they require no additives. When connected to a power source at room temperature, the molecular sieve adsorbs ammonia and other gases, separating oxygen from the air with a purity of 93% ± 3%. They are available in 1L, 3L, 5L, and 10L capacities based on their maximum oxygen flow rate per minute.

In 1886, the Brin brothers developed the Brin oxygen generation process and launched the first industrial air separation oxygen concentrator. In the early 20th century, low-temperature fractionation oxygen concentrators became the mainstream industrial oxygen production equipment. Portable oxygen concentrators experienced a brief revival during the same period. In the mid-to-late 20th century, the Med-Ox Duo Par dual-effect oxygen concentrator was launched, initiating the miniaturization and civilian application of oxygen concentrators.

Oxygen concentrator technology focuses on intelligent pressure swing adsorption (PSA) and vacuum PSA, with products iterating towards portability and low energy consumption. They are widely used in medical and health (home oxygen therapy), industrial production (metal processing), and new energy and environmental protection fields.
